In an idle moment, I was browsing Google’s scholar site, wondering whether any academics had deigned to peer down from their ivory towers onto our humble profession.

I came across the following paper:
‘A Hermeneutic Rubric for Teaching Ethical Communication via “RealWorld” Proposal Writing’
I think I’ll pass on academic research…

You’re missing out Jon… the world of academia has so much to offer the business world.

Whilst doing so research on concise communications I came across the following tips on the University of Ontario website:

Start with why your idea is worth doing (its contribution to the field), then fill in how (technicalities about topic and method).
Give enough detail to establish feasibility, but not so much as to bore the reader.
Show your ability to deal with possible problems or changes in focus.
Show confidence and eagerness (use I and active verbs, concise style, positive phrasing).

Fantastic tips for proposal and tender authors alike!

Steph – but boring the reader is half the fun – perish the thought that proposals would ever be a joy to read…. Jon (feeling cynical)
